Since it’s 1857 inception, the NEA (National Education Association) has sought to undo America and western societies as a whole. In Samuel L Blumenfeld’s book “NEA: Trojan Horse in American Education,” he explains that the NEA worships two gods: Horace Mann, a statist, and John Dewey, a socialist. Both advocated government control of citizens by taking over the education system. I used to wonder why so many schools in Chicago are named after communists...but I digress. In a 1934 NEA meeting, a progressive, Willard Givens stated in a speech: “Many drastic changes must be made. A dying ‘laissez-faire’ must be completely destroyed and all of us, including the “owners”, must be subjected to a large degree of social control...The major function of the school is the social orientation of the individual. It must seek to give him understanding of the transition to a new social order.” John Dewey, father of the American public education system, was an anti-God humanist, bent on reshaping America starting with schools. His idea was that socialism, collectivism, totalitarianism, and any other helpful -isms would be the ‘new social order;’ the new religion. The 1619 "social justice" Project lends itself to Dewey's cause. The essay written by New York Times' Nikole Hannah-Jones is admittedly a rewrite of American history. In short, it suggests that a secret slave ship called the White Lion arrived before the Mayflower and spearheaded all the supposed systems of slavery we see in America today, especially capitalism. Even the highways were built for the sole purpose of segregation and racism, according to Ms. Hannah-Jones. So then, the only logical response to such a systemically defective, albeit fictional, foundation is what BLM and Antifa rioters chant. Burn it all down. Rebuild. Reimagine. And Illinois has the lighter in hand starting with the K-12 school system. The Illinois State Board of Elections, three Democratic Illinois House members, along with a group of indoctrinators/educators have decided to lead the charge to upend the already compromised Illinois education system. The proposed, new Illinois State Board of Education teacher training/education, licensure, and classroom requirements were extracted from the mythical 1619 Project and abysmal doctrines of the critical theory/woke cult. Laurie Higgins at the Illinois Family Institute thoughtfully explains: Teachers are expected to accept as objective truth and implement the following: 1.) Understand and value the notion that … there is not one “correct” way of doing or understanding something. 2.) Affirm students’ “backgrounds and identities.” 3.) Assess how their own biases and perceptions affect their teaching practice and how they access tools to mitigate their own racist, sexist, homophobic, Eurocentric behavior or unearned privilege. 4.) Be aware of the effects of power and privilege and the need for social advocacy and social action to better empower diverse students and communities. 5.) Align expectations … used in the classroom with the values and cultural norms of students’ families. 6.) Encourage and affirm the personal experiences … students share in the classroom. 7.) Consistently solicit students’ input on the curriculum. 8.) Co-create, with students, the collective expectations and agreements regarding the physical space and social-emotional culture of the classroom. 9.) Create a risk-taking space that promotes student activism and advocacy. 10.) Invite family and community members to teach about topics that are culturally specific and aligned to the classroom curriculum or content area. 11.) Intentionally embrace student identities and prioritize representation in the curriculum. 12.) “Curate the curriculum.” 13.) Employ authentic and modern technology usage inspiring digital literacy through an equity lens. 14.) Ensure assessments reflect the enriched curriculum that has embedded student identities. 15.) Embrace and encourage progressive viewpoints and perspectives … toward traditionally marginalized populations. 16.) Implement and integrate the wide spectrum and fluidity of identities in the curriculum. 17.) Ensure text selections reflect students’ classroom, community, and family culture. 18.) Ensure teacher and students co-create content to include a counter-narrative to dominant culture. 19.) Use a resource tool to assess the curriculum and assessments for biases. 20.) Promote robust discussion with the intent of raising consciousness that reflects modern society and the ways in which cultures and communities intersect. 21.) Consider a broader modality of student assessments, such as … “community assessments, social justice work, action research projects, and recognition beyond academia.” Don't let the flowery, ambiguous language of this list lull you into 1960s Woodstock. Students will likely spend their days studying Bobbie Harro's wheel of oppression, followed by lessons on white privilege, marginalization, activism, and sex (thanks Planned Parenthood!). They will learn to abandon critical thinking and accept 2+2=5. They will learn to ditch science for pseudo-science that affirms male and female are interchangeable. They will be taught that individual responsibility is evil and collectivism/group-think is virtuous. They will be taught to despise good, traditional concepts like marriage, child-bearing, respect for elders, and intrinsic gender roles, yet celebrate abortion, elder euthanasia, and gender dysphoria. Traditional western beliefs and those who abide by them are enemies of the critical race theory woke cult...and apparently, enemies of the state. As a native Chicagoan who is still fond of my mostly beautiful city, I believe Illinois has been unduly shackled for many years by these same power hungry progressives with their God-less tenets of death, destruction, sexual perversion, and political corruption. The Illinois State Board of Education’s new re-education proposal is abominable. It is the output of the 1619 Project along with BLM’s occult-based beliefs, in which legislatures are chomping at the bit to drown children’s psyches. With its fantastical revision of history and racist pseudo-theology, this exclusive, hate-filled manifesto will certainly train children and young teachers to ‘reimagine’ and embrace a new social order of Stalin's dreams. A new world order. And don’t think this is just an Illinois problem. It’s coming (or has already arrived) to a city and state near you. We can all just lie back and let it happen to us or we can say something. Do something.
