One of the many abominable, heretical, teachings today is that God’s presence appears to us in a “glory” cloud of gold dust, glitter, gems, or angel feathers. You will not find any such scenario in scripture. If you do happen to find it in your Bible, I urge you to compare your translation with others, then burn it. My mom attended a Christian conference with a few women from her church. Excited and geared up for a refreshing and edifying time of fellowship, prayer, and God’s word, Mom had arrived at the conference center. About a half-hour into the first session, she was waiting for a Bible verse. It never came. As a matter of fact, many people didn’t even have Bibles. An hour into session, the speaker suddenly announced “Look up and see how the gold dust is coming down from heaven!” Initially confused and not wanting to believe her lying eyes and ears, Mom’s alarm bells were ringing. The "prophetess" continued on about the glory of the lord and “basking in the presence.” She then encouraged the attendees to “not be legalistic” about experiencing the glory, and to “open themselves up” to the presence. At this point, Mom was completely uneasy and not keen on the idea of spiritually “opening herself up” to “the presence,” whatever that was. She watched some people wave their hands and others, with a sweeping motion, attempted to purge their religiosity and “open themselves up.” She glanced over at her friends, all of them, with eyes closed in an apparent euphoric state. The speaker continued to ask everyone to let go and “open up” and receive. Again, she pointed and yelled, “Look, we can see the glory of the lord in the dust!” Attendees yelled, “Hallelujah” and corroborated the gold glitter sighting. Mom saw no such thing. What she did notice was: No gospel of Jesus Christ. No reverential songs to the Lord. Only chanting for the “glory” and “the presence” to enter them. None of what Mom heard up to this point could be found in the Holy Bible, certainly not the gold flecks. As my mom prayed, she was certain that there was a spirit present that did not resemble the Holy Spirit of the Bible. At the same time, one of her friends tapped her, “Praise God! The gold dust is on your arms and shoulders!” The others became excited and said, “Don’t you see it?” Mom looked at them in bewilderment. “You have to be more open!” they scolded. They were so ecstatic and engulfed in the occultic gold dust that they couldn’t be bothered to listen to what Mom was trying to tell them over the loud chanting. “It’s Estee Lauder shimmer powder! I put it on this morning!” she yelled. The ladies were dissatisfied, even embittered, with Mom's response. They told her she was being legalistic and not “open enough” to receive what God was doing. It never dawned on them to ask, “What does gold dust have to do with God?” Nothing. Absolutely nothing. “For the time is coming when people will not have patience for sound teaching, but will cater to their passions and gather around themselves teachers who say whatever their ears itch to hear. Yes, they will stop listening to the truth, but will turn aside to follow myths.” (2 Timothy 4: 3) CJB Satan thrives in the world of decadence and loves to cater to the lusts of our five senses. Heretic gold dust peddlers preach Satan’s gospel of magic and manifestations. They do not want people to know the true gospel of Jesus Christ; that trust in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection has the power to break bondage, restore us to the Father, and spare us from paying an eternal price for eternal guilt. The conference Mom attended was just over 20 years ago. Today, the rise of gold dust prophets and glory cloud apostles have leavened the entire church. They claim to be super-anointed, with special words from God that he’s doing a new thing. All you have to do is dump your “legalism,” open yourself up (Don’t do that!) and you too can experience this special anointing. These pseudo-emissaries want you to keep singing, waving, and dancing in wait for the presence and glory gems. They want you to place your focus on a “miraculous” sign that only adulterous generations seek, instead of the miraculous atonement. Why? Because the gospel is God’s powerful means of bringing salvation.(Romans 1:16). “The fact is that such men are pseudo-emissaries: they tell lies about their work and masquerade as emissaries of the Messiah. There is nothing surprising in that, for the Adversary himself masquerades as an angel of light; so, it’s no great thing if his workers masquerade as servants of righteousness. They will meet the end their deeds deserve.” (2 Corinthians 11:13-15) CJB Don’t be deceived by spiritual diversions cloaked in Bible lingo. They aim to lead you away from the simple truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ and God’s word, towards doctrines of angel feathers, glory clouds, and gold dust.
